This week we took a look at the importance of social media analytics and its trends. Our group looked at Twitter analytics for the Publishing program at SFU and made notes of trends regarding traffic and tweets.
- interactions (@ mentions) with individuals gathered more traffic
- pictures included with the tweet had a bit more traffic but not much
- just tweets with words were a no go
- interactions with famous are a big thumbs up!
My group only took a look at Twitter but I can see the above statements working for any social media platform really, especially when involving well known people. Looking at analytics is super important because in order to gain more traffic and audience, content should be catered to what they want. I’ve realized that it can vary for every platform, so constant monitoring should be done, including on small blogs like mine!
